new hobby? July 31, 2007

I’ve found a potential new hobby. Learning how to play the guitar! Since last saturday’s  cell group meeting when kenneth was missing for praise and worship, I’ve decided to try and learn the guitar just in case it happens again. Not that I haven’t tried before, but hopefully this time round, I’ll be more determined, it’ll be less painful and my fingers will become more nimble. Stole my sister’s guitar to practice, asked my brother to tune it. I can already sort of play the first verse of Lord You Are Always Here With Me. Hahaha… Sort of means really sort of, in an intermittent manner. Trying to learn from the net. Kenneth is still the best :P

2 weeks of nothing to do! What a luxury. After reading harry potter, I shall… dig up more books to read and practice the guitar more hahaha.. Maybe when I’m really bored, I’ll go shopping! But have to restrain myself… Don’t want to bring home too much ‘damage’. Sigh…

delivery July 29, 2007

It was another great weekend. Pastor Mike Connell came to minister to us. We had two great deliverance services. Really good. I responded twice for altar call on sat. The first time did most of the work I think haha.. During deliverance services, people get delivered from demons by the presence and power of God. God really loves us so much, I can’t describe.

During the ministry session, when people get set free from demons, some of them may manifest, some don’t. So during the whole time as we prayed, praised God, there were people screaming, crying, struggling, fighting, convulsing as the demons struggled to stay. It was quite a sight, but you’ll get used to it.

When I went down, I waited for a while before someone prayed for me. Dodged falling people and stepped over bodies. (Sounds scary but it really isn’t. Man I don’t know how to describe it without making it sound scary but you’ll have to be there to experience it la.) The person who prayed for me spoke close to my ear because couldn’t hear otherwise. Nothing happened for a while. She asked me some questions and prayed. I fell to my knees on the floor, pressed my elbow against her as she held my hand and then started weeping. Very summarised. But it was really good to get delivered. I felt freer. Freedom. God is great.

Then on sunday, I went to the service again, but didn’t go down again because didn’t need to. Went for peijing’s birthday dinner with her family, cell group and daniel. We ate catered food at her aunt’s condo. Very good very good. Loved the food, loved the people. Yep. Great weekend :)

My life is so exciting, ain’t it? Hahaha :)

Once I have turned my face from Thee July 21, 2007

Once I have turned my face from Thee
Yet you sought me
You cleansed me
Made me whole again
Jesus my Savior my Beloved and Friend
Your praises I bring
From my heart I sing

O draw me, O draw me away
Messiah today
To Your presence to stay
O Jesus now change me
And mould me
That I can be
Evermore true to Thee

You are the shepherd of my heart
You have brought me to Your chamber
My Master and King
You light up my darkness
And gave me Your word
That You’ll never forsake me
Nor no ever will leave me

This is the song Pastor Kong wrote when he was younger. He sang it during service just now, playing the guitar and sitting on the steps. I could really feel how much he loved God. And I’m inspired that I can do the same.

The PETS application on facebook is quite addictive. I was hooked onto neopets back in secondary school when it was quite popular, and I was pretty good at the stock market. Made a few thousand or million neopoints, until someone hacked into my account and stole everything :P Hahaha…

But seriously, being hooked on facebook isn’t a good thing. :P But I can’t bear to abandon my pet like that, after training it so hard. Hahaha oh dear…

I went for a gig by Dawn Fung called The Last Morning. It was held at the concourse of the esplanade, and it was really good. She’s so amusing, and her voice is fantastic. She sang country folk songs, most of which she wrote by herself. It’s been a long time since I went to the esplanade to enjoy a performance. :)

She’s fulfilling the cultural mandate with the gifts God gave her. I wonder how I’ll do it. Maybe I’ll rise to the top of Pfizer :P  Hahaha… All in good timing, but I can’t wait to find out what God has in store for my life. :)

chorus board 2/survivor sentosa! July 15, 2007

Oh man I just had such a fun weekend! Almost overwhelming, but hey praise the Lord it! Hahaha… I served for the second time! I still practiced on the laptop during the service, but it’s just so exciting inside the chorus board room! We did an impromtu sermon this weekend because it was a guest speaker, Rev. Dr. Richard Roberts, who came to speak to us.

We weren’t given a sermon outline beforehand, so for everything that we flashed up on the screen during the sermon, we had to play by ear. When pastor said a point, someone  immediately typed it out on the spot and flashed it. Every point, every verse number. So cool man! And I really don’t miss out on anything during the service while I serve, because I’ve so many small screens to watch it from! And I can even see all the input from the TV crew with their different cameras at the same time from different screens. It’s quite interesting, I get to see ushers, people doing stuff, the cameraman fumbling with the camera…

Haha Rev. Richard Roberts is a terrific guy…a healing evangelist. We had healing services for the weekend, and so many people were healed! This girl, her fingers were broken but when she went on stage and said she was healed, pastor took off her bandages on her fingers and she could move them normally and it wasn’t painful anymore. Another girl had broken her ankle and it was wrapped up so tightly. Pastor wanted her to take the bandages off so she tried but it took 5 minutes on stage for people to help her cut the bandage off, because it was wrapped so tightly. Then when it was off, pastor walked with her arm-in-arm across the stage several times and even ran. She was really healed. And many many others with various pains and ailments were healed.

Our God is a great and mighty God!  :D

Ah then we had an event today, called 胜淘杀! It was at sentosa. Hahaha… really ingenious name… And it was super fun! Wah… We played station games and the mood was just so fantastic. Everyone was just so ON! Whoooo… The team I was in consisted of kenneth, darryl, ernest, aaron, jieyun, jac, pat, anna and I. Pat and anna left after about 2 games. First we had tug-of-war with another group using wet towels tied together, going 1-on-1 twice and 3-on-3 once. The towels kept coming off when we pulled haha…

Then we had to eat peanut butter bread off a string tied limbo-style. Sent jieyun and ernest (the hungry one) to eat. They couldn’t use their hands, and the bread was hard to swallow because it was so dry! Hahaha it was quite funny watching them do it :P Hehe…

Oh we buried ernest in the sand at another station. Competed with another team to see who could do it faster. We did it in a record time of 18 seconds!! WWHOOOO… of course we won at that station hahahaha…

The last game was hilarious. Each team was given a watermelon each. We gave the biggest watermelon to krystle’s team hahaha… Man… kenneth just put the melon in the plastic bag and slammed it on the floor! We were like :O Then we attacked it! Used hands to gouge out the red flesh and ate it like monsters. That was just so FUN!!!! Man… I really enjoyed myself today. Thank God for a terrific weekend, and a great subzone :)

I Need You
Words and Music by David Yem
© 2007 City Harvest Church

Came here in silence, bowing in reverence
Whispers of love
Nothing else matters, to be in Your presence
Just worlds apart

I stand in awe, in wonder of You
Your majesty
Ancient and glorious, the light of the World
And You live in me

You captured my heart
You set me apart

I need You
I need You in me
Come and breathe upon me
Spirit hold me close within

I’ll wait on You
As You pass on through
I’ll wait on You
For Your touch anew

food cravings… July 5, 2007

I really wish I could go for breakfast or supper with friends. Supper preferably because it’s hard to drag myself out of bed in the morning.

I’m in the library now trying to study for my mid-term exam this coming monday. I’ve over 300 pages of the textbook and powerpoint slides to cover, but it’s kinda hard to concentrate without feeling sick. My brain feels heavy, and I wish I could stone or sleep the whole day, but I’ve an exam to study for which is worth 40% of my grade.

Going back to food, I seem to think about food a lot. Whoooo… now I’m thinking about how nice it would be to drive over to macdonalds and get a big mac meal. The fries, the coke, the burger…. Ah… I also want to go over to Ronaldos and get a mango strudel with a mocha ice blended. Ronaldos’ strudels are fantastic. Apple, mango, durian strudels… Oh oh and I also want to eat a Carls Jr burger! I seem to like burgers a lot :P Well, sigh… If only I could spend more on food… Food is something to be happy about haha :P

Oh and I got my new wallet yesterday. Whoooo…

ALL TO YOU
(by Brendon Seeto & Gan Khek Chyan)

Now is the time
When heaven blends with earthly saints
The world resounds as angels sing
“Our God reigns”
I give my all to You
I give my all to You

From heavens throne
Your river flows to this land
And on this rock foundations lay
Here we stand
I give my all to You
I give my all to You

Pouring out this treasure You gave
In Your promises, our hearts turn brave
I will arise and lay down this sacrifice
As we’re building Your house on high

Your kingdom come
Your will be done
On earth as in heaven
