Another wedding! September 29, 2007

I went for another wedding this morning! I didn’t know the couple. I just went to help with the powerpoint slides hahaha.. Oh dear..

Firstly, I woke up late. I asked my mother to wake me up at 8.30. Then when I woke up, I was like, oh ok. Then it occurred to me “Oh NO! I’m supposed to be there by 9!” And the church is in Jurong West la.. Totally miscalculated the time, don’t know what got to me hahaha. So I rushed out of the house in about 5 minutes and flagged a cab because I figured I’ll reach really really late if I took a bus :P Oh well…

Anyway, the wedding was lovely, other than the mistakes on my part. Ya..actually the only thing which went wrong was the slides :P Oh dear… feel so bad hahahaha. Messed up the praise song like quite badly, flashed wrong slides here and there, flashed the “switch off handphones” slide accidentally etc. Don’t know how come I was so blur today. Oh dear.. Hahaha..

Oh but the bride was pretty, and the groom was handsome. Man… I’ll want my wedding to be like that. Hahaha.. ok I’ll get an experienced chorus board person to help me :P So sweet, the couple hahaha. And I like their photos too..from JJ brides (free advertisement).

The MC was really good. So funny.. Bernard from drama… Man I tell you, the guy’s talented. He was also wearing a black suit with a black shirt inside, so shuai ;) Hahahaha aw….

Finally at the end, I got an ang bao! Oh man..felt so bad, cos I did such a bad job for them :P And the amount wasn’t small… Thank you couple! And thank You God! Hahaha..

Hope I get to do more weddings in the future hahaha.. weddings are so fun in this church.. and I get to hear many many wedding messages, so I’d be *ahem* prepared for my own :P Muahahahahaha…

Your life is what you focus on. September 28, 2007

The week’s almost over! Man… I tell you, in this one week break, I did more work than the past..3 weeks? 4 weeks? I’m busy every single day! But I’ve finally finished my two assignments, and everything else!!! Whoooohooooo!! Praise the Lord for inspiration! Hahaha.. I only have my two tests to study for now, and maybe check up some references for my IT essay.

What you focus on is what you spend the most effort, the most time, doing. People who focus on their families spend a lot of time with their families, at home, going shopping and eating dinner with mum. People who focus on their studies obsess about their tests and assignments, wanting to get the best grades. They fret about their assignments and worry that they can’t finish or can’t do it perfectly. People who focus on relaxing, it’s just hard to get them out of the house because they just want to sleep or watch tv or do some other stuff.

Why didn’t I join anything in NUS pharmaceutical society? Because I don’t really want to invest my life in it. I want to put my life in other things haha :)

What you focus on, that’s your life. Your life is what you put your time in. Sometimes, we focus on things without even being aware of it. We just think that life’s like that. Haha… What do you want to do with your life? We should always think what we want in the end. The destination defines the journey.

So.. ya it’s time for my show, I’ll elaborate some other time :P

one week “break”… whooo… September 25, 2007

I’m supposed to be having a one week break now. Guess what I’ve to do? IT assignment – write 5 pages, SP Assignment outline, argumentative essay – 1000 to 1500 words, study for pharm stats test.

I spent today working on my IT presentation. Finished editing the 123 songs I was given from the chorus board database (cos they changed the format, from caps to sentence case), what else… oh ya, going to PJ’s house tomorrow to do our Dosage Form assignment/presentation thingy. Going to do my dispensing lab reports later.

Add in the urge to play on the new acoustic guitar I just bought yesterday every half an hour, that’s quite a handful.

By God’s grace, I will not fall sick. I will not fall sick!!!

Wedding September 22, 2007

My sister’s married!

This morning, I woke up at 7. When I got downstairs, her friends were already in the house preparing stuff to torture the groom with.

Oh then the groom arrived. And guess what? He forgot to bring the bouquet! Whoooo.. Apparently he’s afraid of chickens *gape*. So they prepared a bag of feathers and put the key to the gate inside. And first he tried to blow the feathers out (!!!!). Then he grabbed the bag and used 2 fingers to try and dig the key out. Gosh…this is my brother-in-law. My sister watched everything with a 3G phone. Apparently the image was pixelated.

My sister’s worth $252. The amount of money in hong bao he used to bribe the jie meis.

Ah.. then they started to play with him once he got into the house, cos didn’t want him to sweat outside.

They made him and his friends drink lemon juice.

Then they had to pick one item from a plate to take a bite out of. There was a capsicum, green chili, red chili, chili padi, various sizes. And my dear brother-in-law took the capsicum to eat and left the rest of the chili to his friends. *hits forehead*

My sister’s friends cut huge round circles out of a watermelon. And they had to eat out a message for my sister. So the jie meis asked the groom what he wanted to say to her. He said, “open the door”. Whooo…how to eat that out? So they did “I love you” instead (duh). He took the “love” part and ate out a rather ugly looking heart. His friend was the best, did a really nice “I”. Well-defined.

Then we all walked over to the room door. And he had to choose out of a few pieces of paper to read from. He picked and it was…..1 Cor 13 in the NLT version! All the pieces of paper were different versions of 1 Cor 13, because he’s a Bible Presbyterian..and they only use the KJV bible. Hahahaha.. Then he was like, “All you presbyterian girls!” But he did it anyway. Here it is, in NLT version! :

——

If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever! Now our knowledge is partial and incomplete, and even the gift of prophecy reveals only part of the whole picture! But when full understanding comes, these partial things will become useless.

When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things. Now we see things imperfectly as in a cloudy mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.

Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.

——–

Then they sang a really strange song. And then he was like, “Can I go in now?” Ya ok he was allowed to open the door. Then photo-taking. Then they left the house with my sister in tow.

Yep.. Then the rest is the church service, marriage ceremony and tea ceremony. Then they got married. :P

Then during the time, I was thinking… hmmm.. how should my future husband be like? Hahaha.. So exciting right. I’ve already thought of the outline… I’ve also thought about who should help me out with the wedding… Yay.. Lets hope we meet soon ya..can’t wait ;-) Hahahahaha!

first purchase from amazon September 19, 2007

Yay I made my first purchase from Amazon.com. Hahaha..that’s after learning about it from my IT module. It was the second case study we learnt. The module is good in that it uses a lot of case studies to teach concepts.

I ordered John Bunyan’s The New Pilgrim’s Progress. The Pilgrim’s Progress is a very good book which I read when I was young. I read the abridged version which was an easy read. Then my sister got me one which was the unabridged version, quite impossible to read. Since I’ve tried finding it in several bookstores over the years and failed, I just decided to try Amazon. Hahaha…

Well hope the order went through. Don’t know what happened because I used my NUS card, which I couldn’t activate. But maybe I can do transactions which don’t require the PIN number? Hahaha.. don’t know… Wonder how it’ll arrive.. I’ve never ordered anything online before..Hahaha.. Man..shipping made up about half the cost of the book..But hey, I think the book’s worth it. :) Borrow it from me!! Or go buy it!! Hahahaha..

Every little thing’s gonna be alright September 16, 2007

Every little thing’s gonna be alright.

Haha it’s sunday… Pauline has been praying since last year that we’ll have more guys in our cell, because last year, the girls outnumbered the guys, and the guys were always absent, so much so that in one prayer meeting we had, there were….no guys at all. Quite sad hahaha. Where was the manhood?!

So anyway, today almost our whole cell could go for lunch after service, which is amazingly rare. And I realised that… Pauilne’s prayers did come true! Now the guys outnumber the girls. Right… So I told Pauline to pray for more girls. And she was like “God doesn’t only listen to me you know. You can pray too!” Hahaha… Funny…

Anyway, the DBS ATM machine at Holland V ate my passbook!! I put it in and… it didn’t come out again. The stupid thing was…I realised that I didn’t need to put in the passbook to deposit money. An ATM card would suffice. *Hits forehead*

Oh and had my first Starbucks today in…a really really long long time. Hahaha..no I didn’t drink coffee. I had a blackberry green tea frapp with whipped cream. Oh you know, the whipped cream is non-fat based. That’s what the guy at the counter said. Hahaha… And I really like Starbucks :)

My sister’s getting married next week. And after next week, I’ll be the only one in my family who’s not married. *Hits forehead*

Can’t wait to serve next week! YAY!!

dead clock September 15, 2007

My alarm clock committed suicide this morning. It rang, I woke up and picked it up as usual. Held it in my hand as I reset it and went back to sleep. Rang again, did the same thing. Held it in my hand and somehow, I can’t remember what happened but it dropped onto the floor and shattered into pieces.

Not the first time it shattered. Thought I could fix it back again, but when I looked at the pieces, I was like “huh?” Oh dear…this time I had no idea where each piece was supposed to go. So yep, it died.

And I got a new one which looks exactly like it, except it’s a different colour. Haha.

free ride, bs September 12, 2007

I got a free bus ride on a 174 home from riverwalk! I think KFC sponsored the bus ride cos it said “free ride from kfc”, or something like that. Praise the Lord! I saved $1.08! Whooooo…

I realised that I receive more during bible study when I’m open for something. When it’s just routine, then it’ll just be routine. And bs was good. We learnt about the Holy Spirit today. Haha.. A christian life really is an exciting one. I don’t know how other people can be so resigned to life as it is without wondering whether there is more to life than what they have.
